Bachchan baby girl is fair and has light eyes

It’s a girl for the Bachchans. And the lucky few who have managed to get a glimpse of the newborn insist that Abhishek’s wish — “if it’s a girl I hope she looks like Aishwarya” — could actually come true. “It’s too early to say that she’s the splitting image of her Miss World mom, but she is very fair. She was sleeping when I saw her, but I’m told she has light eyes,” says a family friend.

Her dadaji Amitabh endorses this on his blog saying, “her eyes are of a lighter hue”, but adds that the colour could change later. He seems enchanted by the ‘angelic’ ninth Bachchan who has entered the family his father Harivanshrai started. Refuting rumours that the newborn has been named Viveka, he writes (Day 1,307, November 16, 11.27 pm), “Amitabh, Ajitabh, Shweta, Nilima, Namrata, Abhishek, Naina, Bhim and now… this beauty, unnamed so far.”

According to a source, Ash began getting contractions at around 2 am on Wednesday and Baby B arrived at around 9.50 am.  “He’s on cloud nine or may be 90,” laughed a friend.

Close to midnight, after putting “the wife and daughter to bed”, the new Paa admitted he needed some rest as he hadn’t slept in 40 hours. But still he spent a few moments to relive the day and summed it by calling it “unbelievable”. It’s been an anxious couple of days for the family since Aishwarya was admitted to Seven Hills Hospital late on Monday.

But on Wednesday, the fifth floor was buzzing with excitement. Amitabh and Jaya, Ash’s parents, Krishnaraj and Vrinda Rai, were beaming as photographs were clicked with the baby. Abhishek who has grown up in a joint family himself, is delighted that his daughter will also get the opportunity to learn from both sets of grandparents. “All four are active and involved,” he’d pointed out.

His sister, Shweta, along with her kids, Navya Naveli and Agasthya, were also present at the hospital, along with Ash’s brother Aditya, wife Shrima and their son. For Abhishek, his niece and nephew are like his own kids. “I was 21 when Navya was born and the first few days I didn’t get too close because I was terrified of babies,” he had recalled. “But I’ve learnt a lot since Agasthya and Aditya’s son came along.” That was evident, says a friend, who watched him cradling his baby like a pro.
