Freida Pinto Ready to Act in Konkani Films



Freida Pinto, who rocketed to fame after 'Slumdog Millionaire' became an international hit, is not averse to the idea of acting in Konkani movies. The star who has made a mark in Hollywood, has her roots in Mangalore.
Freida said that she might take up an offer to act in a Konkani film given the right script that has 'a soul in it'.
"I am open to doing Konkani films, let's see," she said.
Freida said that she was proud of her roots and making a film in Konkani would be both challengiing and refreshing.

Freida spoke on the sidelines of the ongoing IFFI where she is promoting her film 'Trishna', directed by Michael Winterbottom, who said Freida was his first choice for the film.
'Trishna' termed as Freida's second Indian film, will be shot in Rajasthan. It is based on English novelist Thomas Hardy's 'Tess of the d'Ubervilles.'

The 27-year-old also said that she is glad to have changed the mindset regarding Indians in Hollywood.
"I feel absolutely great to have broken the Indian stereotype. It was high time that Indians got their proper representation in Hollywood," she said.
Freida is the second daughter of Frederick Pinto of Neerude and Sylvia Pinto (Derebail), and has been to Mangalore a few times.
